Cakey McCakeface's Website Launch!
So, I have my very own shiny new website!! Whodathought it!! I'm super excited that it has got to this point.
Back in the summer of 2015, when I gave up work to spend some more time with Mini McCakeface (with humongous thanks to Mr MCF for keeping me sane and agreeing to take on the full financial burden of us two) I rediscovered my love of baking and creating!
It all started off with a very simple cake for MMCF's 2nd birthday, and then the next project was the massive undertaking of a carved cake in the shape of an Audi TT for my Nieces birthday! I was so very proud of that cake!! And looking back on it now, although there are a million things I would do differently, and it had a multitude of flaws, even super modest me would say that was a damn good cake for a total novice.
I mentioned it to Mr MCF, he looked up from his laptop and gave me a sweet supportive smile, and then I knew that I had to give it a go, even if it was going to be a slog!!
So, I spent a year making cakes for friends, only for the cost of ingredients, watching hours upon hours of 'you tube' tutorials, reading about all things cake. I had some great successes, and many, many failures, but then finally felt confident to take the next step. So, in June 2018, almost 2 years after that very simple facebookcomment, I got my kitchen EHO rated (and got the maximum possible of 5 stars I hasten to add), took out liability insurance, opened a business bank account, notified HMRC and became officially self employed!!!
That is why I am so excited about this website going live....it feels like the final piece of becoming a real life professional cake artist!
So, that's the origin story of Cakey McCakeface! I will be sure to update this blog with any other cake related news, or inane ramblings, so you be sure to check back now and again!
I'm going to take this opportunity to say a couple of thanks!
Firstly, thank you to the amazing Kim Garbet at SoftwareMajor.com for her amazing work on making this website, and her patience in waiting for me to actually get the words out of my head and on to the 'puter!!
Thank you Keith, for your initial comment that got me thinking!
Thank you to my amazing friends and family for all of your encouragement and support.
